The girl's team (2-1) lost their first meet of the season, falling to a strong West Chester East squad by a score of 117.5 to 68.5. The boys remained undefeated (3-0) on the season winning with a score of 103-73.
Sophomore Ava Sgarra was the highest scoring swimmer for the girls, picking up two 2nd place finishes, adding a new District 1 consideration cut in the 200 IM and improving her district time in the 500 free. Other notable performances included a 2nd and 3rd in 100 Free for Ellie Reese and Reya Petrick. Aubrie Wilson also picked up a 2nd place finish in the 100 Fly. In relays, the girls fought their way to second places in the 200 Free (Reese, Reya Petrick, Riley Petrick & Whitney Kane,) 200 Medley (Lucille Obenski, Sgarra, Kayla Terry & Hayley Heckler) and the 400 Free (Kane, Reya Petrick, Reese & Sgarra.) In diving, the DEHS trio of Rachel Laraio, Avery Surden and Courtney Jefferis swept the competition finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
For the boys, Captains Gabe Carroll and Matt DiAddezio were both double event winners. Carroll took the 50 Free and 100 Free, having previously achieved District consideration in both, while DiAddezio took the 200 IM and 100 Breast, adding his first District consideration cut. Sam Sperling was also a double event winner, taking the 100 Back and adding his first District cut in 100 Fly. Jack Thompson was just behind DiAddezio for 2nd in the 100 Breast while Lucas Respicio took third, giving the boys the sweep in the event. Other notable finishes included a second place for Andrew Fulton in 200 Free and third place for Sammy Engle in the 100 Back. The boys 200 Medley Relay team of Thompson, DiAddezio, Sperling & Carroll touched first, bettering their previous District cut, while the 400 Free team (Joseph Zeng, Charles O'Hara, DiAddezio & Thompson) also picked up the win. In diving, Niall Richards continued improving upon his own best, earning first place points for the team with a score of 112.25.
Congrats to our Swimmers of the Meet, selected by their Coaches, Peyton Wheeler and Jack Thompson! The team will be back in action on Friday, January 5th at LCY against Bishop Shanahan. ROLL COUGS!
