East Swim & Dive rolls past Kennett HS to move to 2-0




In their second meet of the winter season, the East boys (2-0) and girls (2-0) teams handily beat Kennett by scores of 99-77 (boys) and 100-81 (girls.)


Senior Captain Gabe Carroll was a double individual winner of the boys meet, taking the 50 free and 100 Free, both with district consideration cuts. Senior Jack Thompson was also a double individual winner in the 200 IM and with a district consideration cut in the 100 Breast. Senior Lucas Respicio followed Thompson in the 100 Breast to take 2nd and 4 points for the team. Other individual event winners included Junior Captain Matt DiAddezio in the 100 Fly and Sophomore Andrew Fulton in the 500 Free. The boys relays saw some lineup changes with the 200 Medley Relays touching in first (Thompson, DiAddezio, Carroll & Joseph Zeng - 1:47.68) and second (Sammy Engle, Respicio, Leo Wu & Niall Richards - 1:50.64.) Crowd favorite Richards also turned in 6 dives for a personal best of 111.80.


For the girls team, Freshman Whitney Kane was a double individual winner in the 200 IM and 100 Free while Sophomores Ava Sgarra and Ellie Reese also had individual wins in the 100 Breast and 50 Free, respectively. The 100 Fly was an impressive race with DEHS girls Freshman Kayla Terry, Junior Aubrie Wilson and Freshman Riley Petrick finishing 2, 3 & 4. The girls' 200 Medley Relays also had impressive races with the team of Lucille Obenski, Terry, Sgarra & Kane touching first (1:58.91) and the team of Chloe Carroll, Elizabeth Kabat, Wilson and Elizabeth Quay finishing second (2:07.80.) Junior Diver Rachel Laraio turned in another district consideration score to take first, followed by Senior Captain Courtney Jefferis in 2nd and Freshman Avery Surden in 3rd. Finishing the night in an exciting 400 Free Relay, the team of Reya Petrick, Lucille Obenski, Hayley Heckler & Reese out touched Kennett for a finish in 4:08.05.


The East team returns to the pool at LCY on December 20th when they meet West Chester East HS at 3:30.
