The East girl's and boy's teams each notched wins against a tough West Chester Henderson squad in front of a home crowd. The girls (6-1) edged out Henderson by a score of 99-87 while the boys remain undefeated (7-0) handily defeating the Henderson boys by a score of 111-72.
The East girls 200 medley relay of Victoria Maki, Finley Mulhern, Cady Kiebort, and Alexa Fulton kicked off the meet with a win. Maki, Kiebort, and Fulton later teamed up with freshman Ellie Reese to win the 200 free relay. Maki notched wins in both the 200 IM and the 100 backstroke, while Fulton took first in the 100 free and 100 breaststroke events (with district qualifying times). Kiebort added a win in the 100 fly and took second in the 200 freestyle. Rachel Laraio continued her win streak on the diving board, while Courtney Jefferis picked up third-place points. Other noteworthy finishes for the girls included Hayley Heckler (3rd 200 free, 3rd 500 free), Sydney Greene (2nd 50 free), Aubrie Wilson (3rd 100 fly), Ellie Reese (3rd 100 free), and Reya Petrick (3rd 100 back). The quartet of Reese, Greene, Heckler, and Petrick took the runner-up spot in the 400 free relay.
The boys had some stellar swims and new district cuts in their win over Henderson. Sam Sperling, Matt DiAddezio, George Liu, and Jack Thompson touched first in the 200 medley relay, lowering their district time. Gabe Carroll had two outstanding winning individual swims in the 100 and 200 free events, both with district times. He would later team up for wins in the 200 free relay with DiAddezio, Liu, and Connor Kiebort and the 400 free relay with Sam and Luke Sperling and Thompson. The 200 free relay earned their district cut with the win over Henderson. Sam Sperling, DiAddezio, and Thomspon went 1-2-3 in the 200 IM with Sperling and DiAddezio garnering district cuts. DiAddezio and Thompson lowered their district consideration times with a 2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke and Sam Sperling added a win and a district cut in the 100 backstroke. Liu and Kiebort took 1-2 in the 50 free with Liu earning his district consideration time. Liu came back to win the 100 fly with an impressive time and a new district cut. Other top finishers for the boys included Luke Sperling (3rd 200 free, 3rd 100 back), Leo Wu (3rd 100 fly), Kiebort (3rd 100 free), and Andrew Fulton (2nd 500 free).
We also celebrated our 12 graduating seniors: Ally Aceto, Gabby Aceto, Leon Dang, Andrew Detwiler, Alexa Fulton, Kate Gersbach, Ella Hagelauer, Cady Kiebort, George Liu, Victoria Maki, Abby O'Donnell, and Luke Sperling. We wish them all the best of luck in their future endeavors!
East will close their dual meet season next week with meets against West Chester Rustin (Wednesday, Feb 1st at WCAY) and Downingtown West (Friday, February 3rd at LCY).
