The East Swim and Dive team competed against Avon Grove yesterday with mixed results. The boys improved their record to 6-1 with a 101-55 win while the girls dropped to 4-3 with a 96-85 loss to a deep Avon Grove squad.
For the East girls, junior Alexa Fulton was a double individual winner in the 200 IM and 100 fly, both with District consideration times. Victoria Maki picked up a new District consideration time and the win in the 100 free and a second place in the 200 free. Fulton and Maki teamed up with Cady Kiebort and Finley Mulhern to earn second place in the 200 medley relay and first in the 200 free relay. Kiebort was the runner-up in the 50 and 500 free events and sophomore Reya Petrick picked up second place in the 100 backstroke. In the diving competition, Rachel Laraio finished second, while teammate Courtney Jefferis placed fourth.
In the boy's competition, the quartet of Jack Thompon, Matt DiAddezio, Aidan McIlroy, and Gabe Carroll outpaced the field to start the meet on a strong note. Caroll went on to win both the 50 free and the 100 fly events while teammate George Liu touched the wall first in the 200 IM and placed second in 100 free. Carroll and Liu later teamed up with Thompson and McIlroy to win the 200 free relay. Leon Dang was the only other individual winner for East, placing first in the 100 breast and finishing second in the 200 IM. Luke Sperling and Niall Richards took 2-3 in the 200 free, while Matt DiAddezio and Leo Wu went 2-3 in the 500 free. In the final event of the meet, the East A relay of DiAddezio, Sperling, Liu, and Wu outpaced the East B team of Zach Fidlon, Ryan Pusey, Akash Krishnan, and Richards to score first-place points. The East diving duo of Jack Hackett and Mitchell Goldman returned to the boards this week with a 1-2 finish.
The team will return to action this Wednesday 2/2 at 3:30PM at the Lionville YMCA to compete against West Chester East in the second to last dual meet of the season.
