The boy's and girl's teams continued their winning ways by defeating Great Valley today at Lionville YMCA. The girls won with a score of 98-59 while the boys defeated Great Valley with a score of 102-76.
Juniors Alexa Fulton and Victoria Maki each tallied two individual wins, while Cady Kiebort placed first in the 50 Free and freshman Elizabeth Kabatt won the 100 breaststroke. Fulton won the 200 IM and 100 Fly, both with district consideration cuts, and Maki won the 100 Free and 100 Backstroke. Sophomore Reya Petrick added points for the team with two second place finishes in the 500 free and 100 back events. Downingtown East swept all three relay events at the meet. The quartet of Maki, Fulton, Kiebort, and Kabatt won the 200 medley relay, while Maki and Kiebort teamed up with Elizabeth Quay and Abby O'Donnell to win the 200 free relay. In the final relay of the meet, Fulton, Kiebort, Petrick, and freshman Sydney Greene took first place. Once again this week, freshman Rachael Laraio won the diving competition followed by teammate Courtney Jefferis in second place.
On the boy's side, senior Aidan McIlroy picked up two individual event victories in the 100 free and 100 backstroke, while sophomore Jack Thompson won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke. Other individual event winners included George Liu (200 free) and Luke Sperling (500 free). Sophomore Gabe Carroll earned his first consideration cut of the season with a runner-up finish in the 50 free. The East boys also swept all 3 relays events at the meet. The 200 Medley team of Thompson, Matt DiAddezio, McIlroy, and Carroll placed first in the opening event. Thompson, DiAddezzio, Carroll teamed up with George Liu to win the 200 Free relay, while Liu, Sperling, McIlroy, and freshman Connor Kiebort handily won the 400 Free relay. The East divers took home 1-2 with Mitchell Goldman placing first followed by teammate Jack Hackett.
Next up on the schedule, Downingtown East takes on West Chester East on Wednesday, December 22nd at the Lionville YMCA (3:30PM).
