East improves record to 3-0; Laraio breaks school record in diving

The East swim and dive team improved their overall season records to 3-0 with wins over West Chester East. The girls showed their depth and won with a score of 99-87, while the boys outpaced the WCE team by a score of 113-72.


The girl's team was led by outstanding performances from seniors Alexa Fulton, Cady Kiebort, and Victoria Maki who each won 2 individual events, all with district consideration times. They also contributed to wins in the 200 medley and free relays. Rachel Laraio handily won the girl's diving competition, breaking the school record from 2019 with a score of 249.05. Other notable performances included Elliott Reese (3rd 100 free), Hayley Heckler (3rd 500 free), Finley Mulhern (3rd 100 breast), and Courtney Jefferis (2nd diving).


The boy's team scored wins in all but two swimming events in their win over West Chester. Junior Gabe Carroll won the 200 free and 100 back events and added wins in the 200 free and 400 free relays, while Sam Sperling picked up two more wins in the 200IM and 500 free and was also on the winning 200/400 free relays. Matt DiAddezio added a win in the 100 breast and a 2nd place in the 200IM, while Jack Thompson picked up the 50 free win and added a runner-up finish in the 100 breast. Other notable performances from the boys included Luke Sperling (3rd 200 free, 2nd 100 back), Connor Kiebort (3rd 50 free), and Andrew Fulton (2nd 500 free). Niall Richards pulled double duty again in the pool and on the diving board, taking 3rd in the 100 free and improving his dive score by 23 points from last week!!


The team will be back in action on January 6th at 3:30pm versus Bishop Shanahan (at Tel Hai pool). We wish all of our swimmers, divers, parents, and coaches a wonderful holiday season! See you in 2023!! Go EAST!
