The Downingtown East girls and boys swim & dive teams improved their season records to 4-0 with double wins over Bishop Shanahan. The girls won with a score of 82-66 while the boys won by 93-42. There was no diving competition at this meet.
The girl's team was once again led by the trio of seniors, Alexa Fulton, Victoria Maki, and Cady Kiebort, who each contributed to 4 individual and/or relay wins for the team. Fulton won the 200 free and 100 fly with district consideration times and added in two wins as a member of the 200 medley and free relays. Maki racked up two firsts in the 100 free and 100 back in addition to the 200 medley and free relay wins while Kiebort handily won the 200 IM and was a member of the winning 200 medley, 200 free, and 400 free relays. Finley Mulhern added a win in the 100 breast, while Lucille Obenski led a 1-2-3 sweep of the 500 free. Other notable performances included Sydney Greene (3rd 200 free and 50 free), Aubrie Wilson (3rd 200IM), Ellie Reese (2nd 50 free), Kate Gersbach (2nd 500 free), Elizabeth Kabatt (2nd 100 breast), Eva Wells (3rd 500 free). The girls won all three relays of the meet: 200 medley (Maki, Mulhern, Kiebort, Fulton), 200 free (Maki, Kiebort, Hayley Heckler, Fulton), and 400 free (Kiebort, Reya Petrick, Heckler, and Reese).
The boys swept all of the individual and relay events of the meet with junior Gabe Carroll leading the charge winning both the 50 free and 100 breast and adding wins in the 200 and 400 free relays. Freshman Andrew Fulton won the 200 free, Jack Thompson won the 200 IM, Sam Sperling narrowly missed the district cut with a win in the 100 fly and picked up second in the 100 breast, while brother Luke Sperling touched first in the 100 free. Andrew Detwiler took home a win in the 500 free and added a second place in the 200 free and Matt DiAddezio won the 100 back and touched 3rd in 100 fly. Other top scorers were Connor Kiebort (2nd 50 free), George Liu (2nd 100 fly, 3rd 100 breast), Lucas Respicio (3rd 100 free), Leon Dang (2nd 500 free), and Ronak Suchindra (3rd 100 back). The boys also won all 3 relays of the meet: 200 medley (S Sperling, DiAddezio, Liu, Kiebort), 200 free (Carroll, Thompson, DiAddezio, S Sperling), 400 free (Fulton, L Sperling, Thompson, Carroll).
The East swim and dive team will be back in action next Wednesday, Jan 11th at 3:30PM vs Avon Grove at home (Lionville YMCA). GO EAST!!
