East boys and girls sweep West Chester Rustin

In their first meet back since the holiday break, the girls and boys swim & dive teams convincingly beat West Chester Rustin with scores of 97-84 (girls) and 104-73 (boys) today at the Lionville YMCA. Both teams move to 3-0 on the season.


Kicking off the meet, the 200 Medley relay of Victoria Maki, Finley Mulhern, Alexa Fulton, and Cady Kiebort won handily over Rustin. Fulton went on to win the 200 free and 100 fly events, both with district consideration times. Kiebort won the 50 free and the 500 freestyle events, while Maki added double victories in the 100 free and 100 back. Mulhern was runner-up in both the 200IM and 100 breaststroke events. The same four girls partnered up to win the 400 free relay at the end of the meet, while the 200 free relay of Aubrie Wilson, Reya Petrick, Kate Gersbach, and Sydney Greene added 2nd place points. Other top 3 finishes included Adithi Kashyup in the 200 and 500 free, Abby O'Donnell in the 500 free, Petrick (100 back), and Elizabeth Kabatt (100 breast). The East divers swept the meet with Rachael Laraio winning the event with a season-best and district consideration score of 230.60. Courtney Jefferis was second and Gabby Aceto was third.


In the boy's competition, Jack Thompson, Gabe Carroll, Matt DiAddezio, and Aidan McIlroy started off the meet with a win in the 200 Medley relay. Carroll added wins in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while DiAddezio won the 100 breaststroke and was runner up in the 200 IM. The 200 free relay of Connor Kiebor, McIlroy, DiAddezio, and George Liu added a win. Other top 3 finishes for East were Thompson (200 free and 100 back), Luke Sperling (200 free and 500 free), Liu (200 IM and 100 butterfly), Leo Wu (50 free and 100 free), Niall Richards (50 free and 100 back), and Leon Dang and Andrew Detwiler (100 breaststroke). The 400 Free relay of Carroll, Thompson, Dang, and Liu finished in 2nd place to end the meet. In the boy's diving competition, Mitchell Goldman broke his own school record and achieved the district consideration cut with a score of 234.40. Jack Hackett was runner up with a season-high score of 211.60.


The swim team will travel to Honeybrook on Friday to face off against Bishop Shanahan at 3:30PM. (There is no diving competition and spectators will not be permitted).
