Detwiler and Hagelauer shine at JV championship meet

East sent about a dozen swimmers to the WCASD JV Invitational meet last night at the West Chester YMCA. This was a final opportunity for swimmers to improve on their 2021-2022 season-best performances.

Andrew Detwiler had an impressive showing by winning the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke, both with nearly 4 second time drops. Both of his times qualified him for the Scott Eliott championship meet on Saturday! Junior Ella Hagelauer swam a lifetime best to finish second in the 100 backstroke (a 5 second time drop!) and also had a top-10 finish in the 50 free. Ella's time in the backstroke also qualified her to compete on Saturday.

Some other notable performances from last evening included a 2nd place finish and best time by Melanie Liu in the 50 free, a 1st place for Kate Gersbach in the 100 free, and a 5th place finish and best time for Ally Aceto in the breaststroke. Shaili Kayada had two top-10 finishes in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while Kyleigh McCallion had two top-25 finishes and a personal best time in the 50 free.

Senior Zach Fidlon finished out his East swim career with a 7th place finish and best time in the 50 free and a nice time drop and 5th place finish in the 100 free. Ryan Pusey had two top 15 finishes in the 50 and 100 free.

Congratulations to our East swimmers! Next up is the Scott Elliott Invitational on Saturday! Go East!!
